WELCOME TO
LEONARDA'S HOME OF HOPE
Leonarda’s Home of Hope, Inc. (LHOH) has been established so that suitable housing and care can be provided for homeless children in Honduras. Honduras is one of the poorest countries in the Western Hemisphere. In addition, Honduras has one of the highest percentages of HIV/AIDS in the world. These two problems give rise to hundreds of homeless children. (Photo At Right: Sor Leonarda with some of the children at the CHHF Clinic in Limón ).
Limón, Honduras is a small village in a remote area of Honduras within the Department of Colon. Six years ago, through the efforts of Sor Leonarda Martinez Lali, an orphanage (Comunión H) was established which today cares for 58 children (from babies to 16 years of age). This orphanage operates in an abandoned hotel with the children sleeping in 3 bedrooms. In 2008 the owners allowed a bar/disco to rent an attached portion of the hotel. Though a new orphanage was a vision prior to the construction of this bar/disco, the vision has become necessity.

Abandoned Hotel
Construction of a new facility has been the goal of LHOH since inception. This year we see that goal coming to fruition as construction begins. Depending on the availability of funds, the new facility will not be complete for two or three years; however, the reality that these children will one day have a suitable home is here.
In addition to construction of the new building, LHOH is providing financial assistance for the operation of the Comunión H orphanage and for education of children who must attend high school in a distant town.
